Syllabus
Before question banks or mock tests, the syllabus is what a candidate should actually sit down with first. It's what marks out the boundary of what can be asked in RRB JE 2026 — everything else is built on top of that.
The problem is that the official version, as it comes with the RRB notification, isn't written to be read easily. It's one long list, with no real separation between CBT 1, CBT 2, and the branch-specific portion.
This page sorts the RRB JE CBT 1 syllabus and RRB JE CBT 2 syllabus by stage and by branch, so an Electrical candidate isn't stuck scrolling past Printing Technology topics just to find the ones that actually apply to them.
RRB JE Exam Pattern 2026: CBT 1 vs CBT 2
| Stage | Subjects | Function |
| CBT 1 | Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, General Science | Screening stage |
| CBT 2 | General Awareness, Physics & Chemistry, Basics of Computers, Environment & Pollution Control, Technical Abilities | Merit stage |
CBT 1 is the same paper for every branch. CBT 2 keeps four sections common, but Technical Abilities are drawn entirely from the candidate's own engineering discipline.
For marks, number of questions, and duration, see the RRB JE Exam Pattern 2026 page. This page covers RRB JE syllabus content only.

Using the Syllabus During Preparation
Use the RRB JE syllabus as a running checklist, not a one-time read. Pick the CBT stage and discipline. Break it into subjects.
Mark each topic Not Started, Studying, or Revised. Solve previous-year questions right after finishing a topic. Return to weak topics before moving on. Bring in mock tests only once the syllabus is covered.
For sequencing and a weekly study plan, see the RRB JE Preparation Strategy page.
