UPSSSC JE Eligibility Criteria

Candidates for UPSSSC Junior Engineer (JE) Recruitment 2026 must meet three conditions: PET-2025 score, post-specific diploma and age on 1 July 2026. UPSSSC JE eligibility criteria for 2026

To be  UPSSSC JE eligibility, you’ll need a valid PET-2025 scorecard, plus a diploma in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering — whichever matches the post you’re going for.  

• Mechanical stream — Advertisement No. 24-Exam/2026. There are 1,156 vacancies on offer, and the application window stays open from 3 to 25 November 2026.
• Electrical stream — Advertisement No. 25-Exam/2026. This one carries 380 vacancies, with applications running from 6 to 27 November 2026.
• Eligible for both streams? You can’t apply once and cover both — a separate form has to go in under each advertisement.
• If you’re currently employed in a government post, get your No Objection Certificate (NOC) sorted from your department before you apply; it’ll be needed along the way.

Is a PET-2025 scorecard compulsory for UPSSSC JE?

Yes. Only candidates who appeared in UPSSSC PET-2025 and hold a scorecard can apply. The commission also shortlists for the written examination on the normalised PET-2025 score, up to 15 times the vacancies in each category.

A zero or negative score is not shortlisted. The PET-2025 registration number and the linked mobile number or email are used to log in to the form, so these details should be at hand before the window opens on 3 November for Mechanical or 6 November for Electrical.

Diploma needed for UPSSSC JE Mechanical posts

Junior Engineer (Mechanical) posts in PWD and Irrigation require a Mechanical Engineering diploma. Other posts name different streams, including Automobile Engineering at UPSRTC and Mechanical Maintenance for the Prison Administration instructor post.

The UPSSSC JE educational qualification 2026 for the Mechanic post also lists a Heavy Vehicle Driving Licence as a preferential qualification.

Electrical posts: diploma, licence and language conditions

A three-year Electrical Engineering diploma is the base qualification for Electrical posts. Three posts add a condition: Hindi in Devanagari at the Electrical Safety Directorate, two years of teaching experience for the RDTI Kanpur research assistant, and a supervisory licence for UPSRTC electricians.

• PWD and state universities: High School (UP Board or equivalent) plus a 3-year Electrical diploma from BTEUP or equivalent.
• UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam: diploma in Electrical Engineering.
• UP State Construction and Infrastructure Development Corporation, and Technical Assistant at Ground Water: 3-year Electrical diploma, BTEUP or Government-recognised equivalent.
• Electrical Safety Directorate: diploma from a recognised institution and the ability to read and write Hindi in Devanagari.
• Research Assistant, RDTI Kanpur: Electrical diploma and 2 years of teaching experience.
• Electrician (Vidyutkar), UPSRTC: Electrical diploma and an Electrical Supervisory Licence.

UPSSSC JE 2026 Age limit as on 1 July

The maximum age is 40 years for every post, counted on 1 July 2026. The minimum is 18 years for most posts and 21 years for four, listed below. The date of birth on the High School certificate is the one used.

UPSSSC JE Age Relaxation follows Uttar Pradesh Government rules for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, ex-servicemen and other categories. It applies only to residents of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates from other states are treated as General category.
