The UPSSSC JE exam pattern 2026 is easy to state: a single written paper, 100 objective questions, 100 marks, 2 hours, and a quarter mark lost on every wrong answer. It applies to Mechanical and Electrical posts alike. Getting to that paper takes a PET-2025 shortlisting first, and the Commission calls up to 15 times the vacancies in each category. UPSSSC JE Exam Pattern 2026
The UPSSSC JE written exam gives candidates 2 hours for 100 objective questions of one mark each. A wrong answer is penalised at one-fourth of a mark. The paper has three parts, and this exam pattern keeps the layout identical for Mechanical and Electrical.

UPSSSC JE Marking Scheme and Negative Marking Rules
The negative marking in UPSSSC JE is simple: a right answer earns one mark and a wrong one loses 0.25. Four wrong answers therefore cancel a single correct one. If the exam is held in more than one shift, scores are normalized before merit is drawn up.

- Only the technical part differs between the branches. Parts 2 and 3 are common.
- A zero or negative PET-2025 score keeps a candidate out of the shortlist altogether.

UPSSSC JE Written Paper Part-Wise Structure
In the UPSSSC JE paper, technical questions form Part 1 and take 65 marks. Part 2 adds 15 marks of Computer and Information Technology, and Part 3 adds 20 marks of General Knowledge related to Uttar Pradesh.

Part 1 is built differently for each branch.
- Mechanical: eight subjects. Theory of Machines and Machine Design is the largest at 15 marks. Thermodynamics, I.C. Engine, Steam and Power Plant Engineering, and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning carry 5 each.
- Electrical: 13 topics of 5 questions each, from Basic Electrical Engineering through to Basic Electronics.

UPSSSC JE Selection Process: PET-2025, Written Exam and Verification
The UPSSSC JE selection process has four stages. PET-2025 shortlisting comes first and the written paper second. Document verification follows, and the final list is drawn from written exam merit and the post preference each candidate has given.
