Exam Patterns

In order to take the RSEB JE examination the candidates need to understand the pattern of the written examination. The exam includes questions that test the technical knowledge and skills of candidates and questions that tests their basic intelligence to select candidates who are capable of fitting the requirement of the job. The exam typically comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and is divided into two primary sections: technical fields of study and general intelligence or the aptitude.

• The technical section covers area of engineering specialization of the candidate, the options being electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or civil engineering. This section measures depth of technical content, problem solving and engineering practical understandings.
• The general aptitude section contains questions on the topics such as Reasoning, Numerical Ability and General Awareness.

These questions test the candidate’s thinking skills, problem-solving skills and his/her knowledge about the current affairs happening around him/her.

The overall time given for the exam is two hours. As such, strategies need to be employed by the candidates in order to prepare for the exam. Knowing the pattern of the exam is important in terms of planning time and allocating more time to probable high-yield areas and not wasting a lot of time worrying about the test in front of you.

Also, solving mock exams and previous year papers boost the performance of the candidates to a great extent and helps in developing confidence and necessary abilities required to crack the RSEB JE examination.
