UPSSSC JE Previous Year Papers

The syllabus tells a candidate what to study. It doesn’t say how the questions are actually framed, which subjects pull in the bigger share of marks, or how tight 2 hours feels once 100 questions are sitting in front of you. That’s exactly where UPSSSC JE previous year papers come in — they show all three things a syllabus never will. The papers linked here work for this, and the method below applies to any UPSSSC JE paper, from any year, solved on the current 2026 pattern.

UPSSSC JE Previous Year Papers and the 2026 Pattern

The 2026 paper is 100 questions for 100 marks, with 2 hours on the clock. Every wrong answer takes away a quarter mark. Old papers were not necessarily built this way. Before using one as a guide to the 2026 exam pattern, check it line by line against the table.

Check 2026 benchmark
Total questions 100
Total marks 100, one mark each
Duration 2 hours (120 minutes)
Negative marking 1/4 mark per wrong answer
Parts Technical 65, Computer and IT 15, Uttar Pradesh general knowledge 20

An old paper that matches on all five lines can serve as a full mock. One that does not is better kept for single topics.

UPSSSC JE Previous Year Question Paper Marks

Pick up any UPSSSC JE previous year question paper and tally its questions subject by subject. Then look at where the 2026 marks fall. Subjects that score high in both deserve the first slots in a revision plan.

Mechanical technical part (65 marks):

Subject Marks
Theory of Machines and Machine Design 15
Engineering Mechanics 10
Strength of Materials 10
Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulic Machines 10
Thermodynamics 5
Internal Combustion (I.C.) Engine 5
Steam Engineering and Power Plant Engineering 5
Refrigeration and Air Conditioning 5

Electrical splits its 65 marks into 13 topics of 5 each, from Basic Electrical Engineering to Basic Electronics. Computer and IT (15) and Uttar Pradesh general knowledge (20) are the same for both branches. The UPSSSC JE syllabus 2026 gives the marks for every topic.

How to Solve UPSSSC JE Papers

A paper only tells you something if you actually sit for it like the real thing. One sitting, 120 minutes, no breaks, no peeking at the answer key halfway through.

  1. Start a 120-minute timer and attempt the entire paper in one go.
  2. Rough time split that works: around 78 minutes on the technical section, 18 on Computer and IT, 24 on general knowledge. Doesn’t need to be exact, but don’t let one section eat into the others.
  3. Once time’s up, stop and count three things separately — how many you got right, how many wrong, how many you skipped.
  4. Now take out a quarter mark for every wrong answer and subtract that from your correct score. Whatever’s left is your real, net score.
  5. Go back through every wrong answer and note which subject it came from. Don’t skip this part — it’s the whole point of the exercise.
  6. Spend time revising that weak list before touching the next paper. Jumping straight to another test without fixing the gaps just repeats the same mistakes.

UPSSSC JE Paper Analysis Tips

The review matters more than the sitting itself.

  • Four wrong answers cost one mark. Count them apart from skipped questions, since the two call for different fixes.
  • Theory of Machines carries 15 marks and Thermodynamics 5, so a weak Theory of Machines section hurts three times as much.
  • Flag the guesses that turned out right. They point to topics that are not ready yet.
  • Part 1 deserves its own stopwatch. Compare the result with the 78-minute pace.
  • A few days later, redo the wrong questions with the answers covered.
  • A topic that shows up in the 2016 paper and again in 2018 should be revised early.

UPSSSC JE Papers and PET-2025

PET-2025 shortlisting is the first filter, and it takes up to 15 times the vacancies in each category. The written paper is the second. Written exam merit then decides the list, which makes timed practice on UPSSSC JE previous year papers worth the effort. Qualification and age rules for each post are on the UPSSSC JE eligibility criteria page.

UPSSSC JE Test Series and Live Classes

Old papers show the style of the exam. The UPSSSC JE test series takes practice further, with topic-wise, subject-wise, full syllabus and mock speed tests on the current pattern. Anyone who wants a fixed timetable can look at the Engineers Academy classroom course, which runs 350-400+ hours from Monday to Sunday.
