The SSC JE exam centres for 2026 aren't out yet — that only comes with the official notification. What we do have is the 2025 city list, and SSC's regional structure doesn't usually move much between cycles, so it's a reasonable base to plan around until the fresh notice drops.

Why Your SSC JE Region Decides Your Exam City Options

Your exam city options depend entirely on your home state — you're picking from one of nine regional lists, not from all ninety-odd SSC JE exam cities across the country.

If you're based in Punjab, your choices come from the North Western Region list — Chennai and Ernakulam simply aren't in the running, no matter how convenient they might've been. 

It sounds like a minor detail, but it's exactly why some candidates get confused when a nearby city doesn't show up as an option on their SSC JE exam centre list — it usually just falls under a different region.

SSC JE Exam City Preference — How the Choice Works on the Application

The exam-city section on the form is easy to breeze through, and that's exactly where people go wrong. A few things worth actually sitting with before you submit:

• You're ranking three cities, not picking one — the order you list them in matters, since SSC tries to honour your first choice before moving to the second.
• There's no "edit later." Once submitted, this section is treated as final on your side.
• Reachability should outweigh sentiment. A city that's an overnight train ride away isn't a good first choice just because it sounds bigger or more familiar.

People sometimes pick a city because a friend or coaching-mate is applying there too. That's not a reason. 

Base the choice on what you can actually travel to without losing sleep the night before.

Can the SSC JE Exam Centre Be Changed Later?

Practically, no. Once submitted, your city preferences are final. SSC, though, can still reassign a candidate, shut a centre, or open a new one — for its own administrative reasons, no consent needed.

So the application stage is your only real say in the SSC JE exam centre. After that, you go with whatever gets allotted.

SSC JE Exam Day Guidelines at the Centre

Nothing here is complicated, but skipping any of it tends to cause the kind of stress that's entirely avoidable:

• Carry the admit card and a valid photo ID — a printed copy, not just a photo on your phone, unless the notice explicitly says otherwise.
• Build in real travel buffer. Security checks and biometric verification at the gate eat more time than people budget for.
• Follow whatever the invigilators say on-site. Some centres run small local variations that never make it onto the printed instructions.
