RRB JE Age Limit 2026 

Per CEN 04/2026, the RRB JE age limit is:

• Minimum age: 18 years
• Maximum age: 33 years
• Reference date: 1 January 2027

That reference date is the one that matters — not today's date, not your application date.

How RRB Calculates Your Age for JE Recruitment

Here's the birth-year window this works out to:

General / EWS	2 January 1994 – 1 January 2009
OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)	On or after 2 January 1991
SC / ST	On or after 2 January 1989

RRB JE Age Relaxation 2026: SC, ST, OBC, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen

Category-wise RRB JE age relaxation:

A few things worth flagging:

• Relaxations don't stack — you get the one your category entitles you to, not multiple added together.
• SC, ST, and OBC-NCL candidates applying against a UR vacancy don't get relaxation for that vacancy.
• Claiming any relaxation means having the certificate ready at document verification. Self-declaration alone won't hold up.

RRB JE Nationality Eligibility Criteria

You need to fall under one of these:

• Citizen of India
• Subject of Nepal
• Subject of Bhutan
• Tibetan refugee who arrived before 1 January 1962, intending to settle permanently in India
• Person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia), or from Vietnam, with intent to settle permanently in India

Last three categories typically need a Government of India eligibility certificate — checked at document verification, not application stage.

RRB JE Posts 2026: Junior Engineer vs Depot Material Superintendent

CEN No. 04/2026 covers two post types, and they're not interchangeable:

Junior Engineer (JE)

• The bulk of the vacancies
• Spread across Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, and allied disciplines
• Qualification must match your chosen exam group

Depot Material Superintendent (DMS)

• A separate, smaller set of posts
• Accepts a diploma in any engineering discipline — not discipline-locked like JE

Both share the same selection process — CBT-I, CBT-II, document verification, medical exam — but the qualification bar differs. Worth confirming before you pick a post while applying.

RRB JE Educational Qualification 2026: Branch-Wise Diploma & Degree Eligibility

Here's the part most candidates actually search for: which branch counts, and under which exam group.

The base rule: a 3-year regular Diploma or a 4-year regular B.E./B.Tech in an eligible branch (or its allied branch) qualifies you for RRB JE. The qualification just needs to be completed on or before the application closing date — not "awaited."

Common Reasons RRB JE Candidates Get Rejected on Eligibility

Worth a once-over before you hit submit:

• Applying before your qualification is actually complete
• Applying under a branch that doesn't map to any listed exam group
• Claiming a reserved category without a certificate that'll survive verification
• Applying under UR while assuming SC/ST/OBC-NCL age relaxation still applies
• Missing the age bracket even after relaxation is factored in
