Staff Selection Commission (SSC) recruits Junior Engineer (JE) every year via a three-phase process for the position of junior engineer in various departments of central government.
Students from various engineering disciplines like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering are recruited to assist in engineering tasks, project planning, and execution.
SSC JE 2024: Notification
The official notification released on 28 March 2024 has invited applications online for the recruitment of 968 Junior Engineers (Civil, Mechanical & Electrical) in various departments.
Application forms can be filled out between 28 March and 18 April 2024.
The tentative schedule for the SSC JE Prelims exam is from 4 June to 6 June 2024.

SSC JE 2024: Departments
After getting selected, candidates will be posted all over India in one of the following departments:

(2) Brahmaputra Board, Ministry of Jal Shakti
(3) Central Water Commission

(5) DGQA-NAVAL, Ministry of Defence

SSC JE 2024: Job Profile
Selected candidates have to conduct field inspections, prepare technical reports, and collaborate with senior engineers. Junior Engineers may also assist in designing, drafting, and maintaining project documentation. They contribute to the implementation of engineering projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications. Additionally, they may participate in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities, supporting the overall success of engineering initiatives. The role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team while gaining valuable experience in the field of engineering.
SSC JE 2024: Important Dates
(1) The application form filling begins on 28 March 2024.

SSC JE 2024: Eligibility Criteria
(1) To apply for SSC JE 2024, students must have a regular 3-year Diploma or 4-year regular B.E./B.Tech.
(2) The upper age limit for candidates is 32 Years as of 29 March 2024 for UR Category students. However, there are age relaxations for certain categories of students according to government norms.

The selection of Junior Engineer via the SSC JE 2024 exam is done via the Prelims Exam followed by the Mains Exam and Document Verification.

SSC JE 2024: Exam Pattern
SSC JE Prelims Exam Pattern:
(1) SSC JE Prelims contains a negative marking of 0.33 marks for incorrect answers.
(2) The candidates who qualify for the prelims stage will be eligible for the Mains stage.
SSC JE Mains Exam Pattern:
(1) Mains exam consists of purely technical questions each of 3 marks.
(2) Each incorrect answer carries 1 mark.
(3) Candidates who qualify for the prelims stage will be eligible for the Document Verification stage.

Students can apply for SSC JE 2024 from 29 February 2024 on www.ssc.nic.in till 29 March 2024.
SSC JE 2024: Application Fee
The application fee for SSC JE online application fee is Rs 100 for General and OBC category male candidates. All Female candidates and candidates belonging to the SC/ST/PWD category are exempted from the application fee.
