SSC JE Vacancy Notification Out: Check Department & Branch-wise 1699 Vacancies

SSC JE Notification 2026

The SSC JE 2026 recruitment has moved past the application stage. Forms closed on 22 September, and the correction window stays open only from 28 to 30 September. At this stage, most candidates are asking the same four questions. When will the exam be held? What can still be corrected in the form? What has changed in the pattern this year? How should the remaining weeks be spent?

This page answers all four.Every fact below comes from the notification the Staff Selection Commission issued on 2 September 2026. Dates, vacancies, eligibility, syllabus and salary are gathered in one place, so no one has to hunt through five different pages.

Engineers Academy publishes this page. The institute trains engineering students for government recruitment exams such as SSC JE.

Its online platform, Nimbus Learning, and its book imprint, EA Publications, serve the same students. The approach here is plain: verified facts first, preparation advice after.

SSC JE 2026 Notification PDF Download and Official Notification

The SSC JE 2026 official notification settles every disputed point. Vacancy counts, qualification wording, age cut-off and the exam scheme all originate there.

For the SSC JE 2026 notification PDF download, open ssc.gov.in, go to the notices section and select the SSC Junior Engineer Examination 2026 notice.

Read these parts first:

  • the qualification clause for the post applied for, with any experience condition
  • the age cut-off date and relaxation rules
  • the scheme of examination and marking rules
  • the list of participating departments

Summaries, this page included, are a reading aid. Where a figure differs from the PDF, the PDF prevails.

Tentative dates move. The official website is the only source worth trusting here.

SSC JE 2026 Application Form Correction: Dates and Precautions

The SSC JE 2026 application form correction window opened on 28 September and closes on 30 September 2026. It is meant for applicants who have already submitted a form.

Only certain fields can be edited. Personal details cannot. An error in name or date of birth should be checked against the matriculation certificate first.

  • Log in with the registration number and read the entire form.
  • Change only what is genuinely wrong, since each edit risks a fresh mistake.
  • Recheck the post preference and the three exam centre choices.
  • Save the confirmation after submitting.

The window is a correction facility. It does not reopen registration, and no new application can be filed through it.

SSC JE 2026 Exam Application Statistics

A total of 5,19,796 candidates filled the online form this cycle. The previous cycle recorded about 4.65 lakh.

Against 1,699 tentative vacancies, that is roughly 305 applicants per post. The figure is rough, since vacancies are split by branch and department. It still shows why Paper 2 preparation cannot be casual.

SSC JE Application Fee 2026

The SSC JE application fee 2026 is ₹100 for General/Other candidates. Other categories are exempt, subject to the notification rules.

Category Fee
General/Other ₹100

SSC JE Selection Process 2026

The SSC JE selection process 2026 moves through written papers, then verification and a medical check.

Stage What it involves
Paper 1 Computer-based screening. Qualifying this year
Paper 2 Technical paper. Counts for merit and post allocation
PST/PET Physical tests, BRO candidates only
Document verification Confirms eligibility and documents
Medical examination Final fitness check

No interview stage is listed.

Merit is drawn from Paper 2 alone this year. Paper 1 only decides who moves forward. A candidate ranked high in Paper 2 then chooses among the departments and posts open to the branch, which is where the vacancy tables above become useful.

SSC JE Exam Pattern 2026

The SSC JE exam pattern 2026 has two computer-based objective papers. The full scheme is also set out on the Engineers Academy scheme of examination page.

SSC JE Paper 1 Exam Pattern

SSC JE Paper 1 carries 200 questions and 200 marks in a single two-hour sitting.

Section Subject Questions Marks
A General Intelligence and Reasoning 50 50
B General Awareness 50 50
C General Engineering, by branch 100 100
Total 200 200

Section C depends on the post:

  • JE Civil: Civil and Structural Engineering
  • JE Electrical: Electrical Engineering
  • JE Mechanical: Mechanical Engineering
  • Scientific Assistant, IMD: Computer Science and IT, or Electronics and Telecommunication, or Physics
  • JE Telecom: Telecommunication

SSC JE Paper 2 Exam Pattern

SSC JE Paper 2 is the technical paper. It carries 100 questions and 300 marks in two hours, all from the candidate’s engineering branch.

Two hours for 100 questions leaves 72 seconds per question. Numerical problems take longer than theory ones, so the time saved on direct questions has to fund them.

SSC JE Marking Scheme 2026

Criteria Paper 1 (CBT 1) Paper 2 (CBT 2)
Mode Online Online
Questions 200 100
Total marks 200 300
Marks per question 1 3
Negative marking 0.25 1
Purpose Screening Final merit and post allocation

SSC JE Negative Marking

SSC JE negative marking differs by paper. Paper 1 deducts 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Paper 2 deducts 1 mark against 3 for a correct one.

The break-even points follow from that:

  • Paper 1: guessing pays once confidence passes about 20 percent.
  • Paper 2: guessing pays only above 25 percent.

Put plainly, a blind guess in Paper 2 is a poor bet. A guess after eliminating two options is a sound one.

SSC JE Qualifying Marks

SSC JE qualifying marks are set category-wise.

Category Minimum marks
Unreserved (UR) 30%
OBC/EWS 25%
All other categories 20%

The notification states which stage each percentage applies to. On a 200-mark paper the arithmetic gives 60, 50 and 40 marks. Qualifying is a floor. It is not the finish line.

SSC JE Syllabus 2026

The syllabus splits by paper. For a topic-by-topic breakdown, see the Engineers Academy guide to the SSC JE syllabus and exam pattern 2026.

SSC JE Paper 1 Syllabus (CBT 1)

The SSC JE Paper 1 syllabus covers three areas.

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: analogy, classification, series, coding-decoding, Venn diagrams, problem solving, spatial orientation, numerical and logical reasoning, decision making, non-verbal reasoning.
  • General Awareness: history, geography, polity, economy, general science, environment, government schemes, sports, awards, national and international events.
  • General Engineering: the candidate’s own branch, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical.

SSC JE Paper 2 Syllabus (CBT 2)

The SSC JE Paper 2 syllabus is purely technical and differs by branch.

Civil Engineering

  • Building materials, estimating, costing and valuation
  • Surveying, soil mechanics, hydraulics, irrigation engineering
  • Transportation and environmental engineering
  • Theory of structures, concrete technology, RCC design, steel design
  • Construction management

Electrical Engineering

  • Basic concepts, circuit law, magnetic circuits, AC fundamentals
  • Measurement and measuring instruments
  • Electrical machines, fractional kilowatt and single-phase induction motors, synchronous machines
  • Generation, transmission and distribution
  • Estimation and costing, utilisation of electrical energy, basic electronics

Mechanical Engineering

  • Theory of machines and machine design, engineering mechanics, strength of materials
  • Properties of pure substances, first and second laws of thermodynamics
  • IC engine cycles, performance, combustion, cooling and lubrication
  • Rankine cycle, boilers, air compressors, refrigeration cycles, nozzles and steam turbines
  • Fluid properties, statics, kinematics, dynamics, flow measurement, hydraulic turbines, centrifugal pumps

About one-third of the Mechanical syllabus is updated this year. Compare notes against the current notification, not last year’s.

SSC JE Salary 2026 and Job Profile

The SSC JE salary 2026 starts at ₹35,400 basic pay under Pay Level 6.

Detail Amount
Pay scale ₹35,400 to ₹1,12,400
Approximate in-hand ₹44,000 to ₹68,000 per month
Approximate gross ₹60,000 to ₹78,000 per month

Posting location, allowances and deductions move the actual figure.

A Junior Engineer plans, supervises and maintains engineering works at site level. Civil JEs handle construction, estimation and measurement. Electrical and Mechanical JEs look after installations and equipment. The post is Group B.

SSC JE Cut Off: What Decides the Qualifying Line

The SSC JE cut off is declared category-wise after the exam. Five things move it:

  • paper difficulty in that shift
  • the number of candidates who appear
  • vacancies in the branch and department
  • category-wise reservation
  • the trend of earlier cycles

With Paper 1 qualifying only, the real contest happens in Paper 2. A thin pass in Paper 1 followed by a weak technical score will not reach the merit list.

SSC JE Books for Preparation

Reasoning and awareness need general books. Students commonly use R.S. Aggarwal for reasoning and Lucent’s General Knowledge for awareness.

The engineering paper needs branch-specific MCQ practice. EA Publications lists these SSC JE titles:

Check each product page for contents, language and current price.

SSC JE Preparation Strategy 2026

A sound SSC JE preparation strategy starts with where the marks are. Paper 2 carries 300 marks and decides merit, so it gets the larger share of hours. Paper 1 must still be cleared, so reasoning and awareness need steady, limited practice.

SSC JE Study Plan for the Remaining Weeks

A workable SSC JE study plan divides the time in three phases. The exam is tentative, so adjust the lengths.

  • Early phase: revise technical subjects topic by topic, with solved MCQs after each.
  • Middle phase: solve previous year papers, then move to weekly full-length mocks.
  • Final phase: revise weak topics only. Take short timed sets. Stop starting new material.

Daily, keep one fixed hour for reasoning and awareness. Give mock analysis as much time as the mock itself.

Consider a student who spends eight minutes on one stubborn circuit problem in Paper 2. Two or three easier questions elsewhere have gone unattempted. Timed practice exposes this habit. Reading about it does not.

SSC JE Preparation Without Coaching

SSC JE preparation without coaching is realistic for a candidate with a settled routine.

  • Start from the official syllabus, not from a book’s contents page.
  • Pick one standard book per technical subject and finish it.
  • Solve previous year papers early, not at the end.
  • Take mocks regularly and keep an error log.
  • Use free demo classes to fill specific gaps.

Coaching mainly adds structure and doubt resolution. A candidate who already has both can manage without it.

SSC JE Previous Year Papers

SSC JE previous year papers show how questions are framed and which topics recur in each branch. They also show the difficulty level to expect.

Attempt a paper under timed conditions. Mark every wrong and guessed answer. Return to the topic, not just the solution.

Three things are worth extracting from each paper:

  • the topics that repeat across years in the candidate’s branch
  • the question types that consumed the most time
  • the sections where wrong answers cost the most marks

Mechanical candidates can use the SSC JE Mechanical Previous Year Objective book for solved practice.

SSC JE Mock Test

An SSC JE mock test builds speed and shows weak areas before the real exam. One mock taken carelessly teaches little. Three taken under exam timing, with every wrong answer traced to its cause, teach a great deal.

Engineers Academy offers branch-wise practice on its SSC JE mock test page. Test series are sold separately from course batches.

SSC JE Online Coaching on Nimbus Learning

Nimbus Learning is the online platform of Engineers Academy. Its SSC JE program runs batches for Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. Material comes as PDFs and video lectures, with offline download and desktop access listed.

Batch type Format Suited to
Foundation Batch (2027) Live Starting the syllabus for the next cycle
Foundation Batch (2026, CBT-1 + CBT-2) Live from classroom Covering both papers
Vijeta Batch PDFs and videos, CBT-1 crash course Revising a finished syllabus
Recorded and earlier-cycle courses Recorded Self-paced study

Two points deserve a plain statement. The Vijeta Batch covers CBT-1 only, while Paper 2 decides merit, so technical revision must come from elsewhere. The 2027 Foundation Batch also suits the next cycle better than this one
