RRC East Central Railway (ECR) has released the RRC GDCE Recruitment 2026 notification for 1,465 vacancies. The recruitment includes Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP), Technician, Junior Engineer (JE), Depot Material Superintendent (DMS), Station Master, Goods Train Manager, Section Controller and other posts.

Who Is Eligible for RRC ECR GDCE 2026?
The RRC GDCE 2026 recruitment is specifically meant for eligible regular employees of East Central Railway and Rail Wheel Plant, Bela. It is not an open recruitment for the general public.
Employees who have resigned or transferred from East Central Railway are not eligible. RPF and RPSF employees are also excluded.
Candidates cannot apply for the same post on which they are currently working. The required qualification must be available by 15 October 2026 and should be recorded in the employee’s service register.
RRC GDCE Educational Qualification
ALP applicants generally require Matriculation/SSLC with ITI or Act Apprenticeship in the prescribed trade, or an applicable engineering Diploma/Degree. Technician posts generally require Matriculation/SSLC with the relevant ITI or Act Apprenticeship.
Junior Engineer posts require a three-year Diploma or relevant Engineering Degree in the prescribed discipline. DMS requires a three-year Engineering Diploma in any discipline. Degree-level qualifications are prescribed for posts such as Station Master and Goods Train Manager, while Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk requires Class 12 or equivalent with the prescribed marks.
RRC GDCE Age Limit 2026
Age is calculated as on 1 January 2027. The stated age limits are 18 to 42 years for UR candidates, 18 to 45 years for OBC candidates and 18 to 47 years for SC/ST candidates, subject to the conditions in the notification.
Candidates should also check the birth-date ranges specified for each category and remember that category-based relaxation does not automatically apply when a candidate is considered against an unreserved vacancy.
How to Apply for RRC GDCE 2026?
Eligible railway employees can submit the application online through the East Central Railway website. Candidates should open the GDCE recruitment section and select notification RRC/ECR/HRD/Rectt/GDCE/2026.
Applicants need to register using their employee ID and date of birth, enter personal, service and educational information, upload the required photograph, signature and certificates, and select the eligible post and preferences carefully.
Only one application should be submitted. Candidates should review every entry before submission and retain a copy for reference. No printout or certificates need to be sent to RRC/ECR by post, as stated in the notification.
RRC GDCE Selection Process 2026
The selection procedure depends on the post. The main stages include CBT, applicable aptitude or typing tests, Document Verification and Medical Examination.
ALP, Station Master and Section Controller candidates have to appear for the applicable Computer Based Aptitude Test. Senior Clerk candidates are required to qualify in the Computer Based Typing Skill Test.
The aptitude test requires a minimum T-score of 42 in each test battery, with no category-wise relaxation. For the typing test, Senior Clerk candidates need a speed of 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi.
RRC GDCE Salary 2026
The notified posts fall under Pay Levels 2, 3, 5 and 6 of the 7th Central Pay Commission. The applicable pay level depends on the post. ALP and Technician positions fall under Level 2, Commercial Cum Ticket Clerk under Level 3, Goods Train Manager and Senior Clerk under Level 5, while JE, DMS, Station Master and Section Controller fall under Level 6.
