IBPS Specialist Officer Recruitment 2026

The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) has officially released the IBPS Specialist Officer Recruitment 2026 for CRP SPL XVI, which will hire 745 Scale-I Specialist Officers for the participating Public Sector Banks. The application process was started online from 1st July 2026 and will be open upto 21st July 2026.

Unlike Probationary Officer recruitment, the IBPS SO examination is for candidates who have professional qualifications and are interested to pursue careers in specialized banking roles like Information Technology, Agriculture, Law, Human Resources and Rajbhasha.

IBPS Specialist Officer Vacancy 2026

As per the official notification, the number of IBPS Specialist Officer Vacancy 2026 for various specialist fields is 745.

The most posts available are for IT Officers (301), Agricultural Field Officers (190) and Law Officers (105). Rajbhasha Adhikari (89) and HR/Personnel Officers (60) posts have also been announced as vacancies. The Marketing Officer position has not been advertised this year.

The recruitment will be carried out by various participating Public Sector Banks like Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank, Bank of India, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank and others participating banks.

Eligibility Criteria

The educational qualification and age criteria are the basic requirements for the candidates to apply for IBPS Specialist Officer Recruitment 2026. Age of applicant is between 20 years and 30 years on the date of the cut-off.

Entry requirements are based on qualifications needed for the job. For example:

  • IT Officer: B.E./B.A Tech or Postgraduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics or related fields.
  • Agricultural Field Officer – Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture or related subjects.
  • Law Officer: Bachelor of Law (LLB).
  • HR/Personnel Officer: A graduate with two years postgraduate course in Human Resource Management/ Personnel Management / Industrial Relations / Labour Law.

IBPS Specialist Officer Exam Pattern

The outstanding feature this year is the new IBPS Specialist Officer Exam Pattern, with Professional Knowledge (PK) being the new focus along with aptitude based subjects.

The preliminary examination has parts of English Language and Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude (for Technical Posts) or General Awareness (for Clerical Posts), and Professional Knowledge. The examination has 100 questions and contains a total of 125 marks, and the examination will last for 80 minutes. There is a negative marking of 0.25 mark per incorrect answer.

The Main Examination is mostly based on the candidate’s Professional Knowledge in the selected specialist field. Candidates qualifying the Main Examination will be short-listed for the Interview stage.

The IBPS Specialist Officer Selection Process 2026 is divided into three parts:
