This department has recently announced a vacancy for an Examiner of Patent & Design.

The CGPDTM (Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trade Marks has released a notification for the recruitment of Patent examiners. There are a total of 503 vacancies available for the post of Patent Examiner. The eligibility criteria for the post include a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science, with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate. The age limit for the post is between 21 and 35 years.

CGPDTM Patent Examiner Recruitment 2023: Salary Structure
Those appointed as examiners of patents and designs will receive monthly salaries ranging from Rs. 56,100 to Rs. 177,500 in Level 10 in the Pay Matrix along with allowances, as admissible, in the Government of India.

It is a three-stage selection procedure for the post of examiner in Patent and Design.
(a) Preliminary exam
(b) Main exam
(c) Interview
CGPDTM Patent Examiner Recruitment 2023: Exam pattern
Preliminary Examination
(a) It is an ONLINE mode exam.
(b) Consist of one paper (objective type multiple choice questions) a total of 150 marks.
(c) The duration of the examination is 2 hours.
(d) Each question carries one mark
(e) Minimum qualifying marks in for UR:30%; OBC/EWS:25% and others:20%
The marks distribution according to subjects is given in the following table:
Mains Examination
(a) It is an offline mode exam.
(b) Consist of 2 papers that are Paper –I (OMR Based) and Paper –II (Descriptive answer).
(c) Paper I will be 100 marks for 2 hours with objective type multiple choice questions, with each question carrying one mark.
(d) Paper–II will be 300 marks for a duration of 3 hours and will consist of descriptive questions based on the respective technical stream
(e) Paper-I and Paper-II will be assigned 80% weightage as in total for the final selection.
Interview
(a) The interview will be for 100 marks
(b) It will be based on topics covered in the preliminary and main examinations.
(c) 20% weightage will be given to the interview for final selection.

(a) Examination fee of ₹1000/- for candidates belonging to the General category and OBC category.
(b) Examination fee of ₹500/- for candidates, belonging to SC /ST category, PWD/ Differently abled (PH) category, and women (from all categories).
