The candidates who are preparing for the recruitment examination of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVNL) should know about the AVNL Technician & Manager Syllabus 2026. The candidates should also know the exam pattern for 1213 posts announced for junior technician, Junior Manager, Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager and Other posts.

The AVNL CBT 2026 will have a total of 100 objective type questions of a total 100 marks. This exam will consist of 2 hours in total, with 2 parts. Part A will contain General Awareness, General English, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude questions and Part B will consist of questions from the relevant trade or professional area.

AVNL Syllabus 2026 – Overview

AVNL Technician & Manager Exam Pattern 2026

The pattern of the AVNL exam 2026 is divided into part A and part B in an equal ratio. The examination is allocated 100 marks, 50 marks for each of the sections.

Part A – General Section – 5 Subjects. There are 10 questions in each subject with 10 marks available per question. In part B of the exam there are 50 questions in relation to the candidate’s trade or profession.

No negative marking for incorrect answers so candidates are able to attempt questions strategically after working through the questions they are confident about.

AVNL Syllabus 2026 – Part A

Part A is shared for the relevant posts and addresses 5 areas. It is important for candidates to regularly rehearse these subjects, since they make up 50% of the total marks.

  •   General Awareness: All about current affairs, Indian History, Geography, Indian politics, Indian Economy, General Science, Defence-related developments, awards, sports, and important days. Current affairs which are important from the national perspective and defence perspective should be given special focus.
  •   General English: Grammar, Vocabulary, Synonyms and Antonyms, Error Detection, Fill in the blanks, Sentence Improvement and reading comprehension are important topics.
  •   Quantitative Aptitude: Number System, Percentage, Ratio and Proportion, Average, Profit and Loss, Simple and Compound Interest, Time and Work and Mensuration are the major topics.
  •   Reasoning Ability: They should learn Analogy, Classification, Number Series, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Direction Test, Syllogism, Venn Diagrams and basic puzzles.
  •   Computer Aptitude: Computer fundamentals, Hardware and Software, Operating systems, MS Office, Internet, Email, Computer networks, Memory and Keyboard shortcuts are important areas.

The general section is generally in line with the 10th standard for Junior Technician posts, and is at the graduate level for applicable general paper in other posts.

AVNL Part B Syllabus 2026

Part B is the technical section which is different for each post applied for. Candidates mustn’t use a standard set of preparation strategies for all the positions.

  •   The syllabus for Junior Technician is designed on the NCVT syllabus of the appropriate trade of the ITI. Trade Theory, Trade Practical, Tools and Equipment, Workshop Calculations, Engineering Drawing, Safety and Maintenance related concepts should be explored.
  •   The Junior Manager, Assistant Manager and Deputy Manager should prepare for the basic subjects of the engineering or professional course. Candidates are expected to modify the basic concepts, numerical problems and practical applications pertaining to their branch.
  •   It is suggested that candidates give adequate preparation time in their technical syllabus as the total mark of part B is 50. Candidates who have a good knowledge of basic concepts are able to answer either direct or application based questions.
