- Technical Attendant Gr. 1 has the most vacancies at 37.
- Assistant Gr. II follows with 29.
- These two posts hold 66 of the 110 seats.

- Engineering Officer Gr. 1 (Electrical): First Class B.E./B.Tech in Electrical or Electrical and Electronics Engineering. A valid GATE score (2024, 2025 or 2026) in Electrical Engineering is also required.
- Engineering Officer Gr. 1 (Civil): First Class B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering. A valid GATE score (2024, 2025 or 2026) in Civil Engineering is also required.
- Engineering Assistant (Electrical or Mechanical): First Class 3-year Diploma in the relevant branch. Five years of relevant experience is required.
Scientific and technical posts
- Scientific Assistant: First Class B.Sc. in Chemistry. Five years of relevant experience is required.
- Technician Gr. 1 (Electrical or Mechanical): ITI Trade Certificate in the relevant trade.
- Technical Attendant Gr. 1: Matriculation or equivalent. A 2-year ITI certificate in Electrical or Mechanical is desirable.
Clerical and support posts
- Assistant Gr. II: First Class BA, B.Sc., B.Com, BBA, BBM or BCA. A minimum Grade-B NIELIT BCC certificate is required.
- MTS Gr. 1 (Watch and Ward): Matriculation or equivalent.
CPRI Age Limit 2026: Post-Wise Maximum Age
The minimum age is 18 years. The maximum age differs by post.
- 35 years: Scientific Assistant, Engineering Assistant (Electrical and Mechanical)
- 30 years: Engineering Officer Gr. 1, Technical Attendant Gr. 1, Assistant Gr. II
- 28 years: Technician Gr. 1 (Electrical and Mechanical)
- 25 years: MTS Gr. 1 (Watch and Ward)
Reserved categories receive relaxation. The rules follow Government of India norms.
CPRI Application Fee 2026: Amount and Exemptions
- ₹1,000: Engineering Officer, Scientific Assistant and Engineering Assistant posts.
- ₹700: Technician, Assistant Gr. II and Technical Attendant posts.
- SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-Servicemen and women candidates are exempt.
- Payment charges, if any, are borne by the candidate.
- A registered application cannot be withdrawn.
- A paid fee is not refunded. It is also not adjusted against any other examination.
- If CPRI cancels the recruitment, only the fee is refunded.
- The fee for MTS Gr. 1 is not stated in the reference material. Candidates should confirm it in the official notification.

- Engineering Officer Gr. 1 (Electrical and Civil): GATE score.
- Engineering Assistant and Scientific Assistant: Computer-Based Test (CBT), then a job-specific practical skill test.
- Technician Gr. 1: CBT, then a trade test.
- Technical Attendant Gr. 1: CBT.
- Assistant Gr. II: CBT.
- MTS Gr. 1 (Watch and Ward): CBT, then a trade or proficiency test.
Coming to the practical side, candidates with two stages should prepare for both. A CBT score alone will not complete selection for those posts.
