The Common University Entrance Test (CUET), earlier known as Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET) is an all-India test being organized by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to various Undergraduate, Integrated, Postgraduate, Diploma, Certification courses and Research Programme in 45 Central Universities of India. It is also accepted by number of other State Universities and Deemed universities in India.
In this article, we will discuss about lateral entry admission into 2nd year of B.Tech courses after having a Diploma Certificate.
CUET Recruitment 2023: Eligibility Criteria
Candidate must have passed a three years / two years (lateral entry) diploma examination from a recognized institution in any branch of engineering/technology with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates).
There is no upper age limit for lateral entry to universities.
CUET Recruitment 2023: Selection Criteria
A merit list based on the candidates’ performance in the entrance exam is prepared and the shortlisted candidates will be called for counselling where they will have to provide their choice of course and institution. The counselling process usually consists of document verification and seat allocation based on the availability of seats of the respective colleges or universities.
CUET Recruitment 2023: Exam Pattern
(a) The exam will be in online mode.
(b) Marking scheme includes 5 marks for each correct answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong response.

The last date for the submission of online application was 30 March 2023 and the online examination for CUET 2023 UG will be conducted from 21st May to 31st May 2023 as announced by National Testing Agency.

Interested students can apply at the official website of CUET: https://cuet.samarth.ac.in/
Following steps need to be followed for Registration:
(a) Select ”New Registration”.
(b) Read all the instructions carefully for procedure to fill the application form.
(c) Fill the Registration form.
(d) Enter OTP received on your registered phone number for Verification.
(e) Login and fill the application form.
(f) In Educational details, fill the details of your 10th, 12th,and diploma certificate.
(g) Select the university in which you want to apply for Lateral Entry Admission.
(h) Select the program as “B.Tech-II [Lateral Entry for Diploma Holders]”.
(i) Then select the test paper for First and Second slot of exam.
(j) Click on “Save”.
(k) Select Exam center for CUET Exam.
(l) Upload the required document in prescribed format.
(m) Make Fee Payment.
(n) Print the application form for future reference.
