Mechanical Trainees handle the basic working and mechanical functioning of thermal power plants across India along with maintenance of all the mechanical equipment of Power Plants.
Electrical Trainees handle the installation, maintenance, and repair of various electrical equipment of the power plant along with the maintenance of electrical equipment of the Power Plant.
Electronics and Instrumentation branch trainees are responsible for the installation and repair of electronic equipment and instruments.

The notification is expected to be released by March-April 2023 and the exam is likely to be scheduled after 2-3 months of the release of the official notification.

It is expected that NTPC will release notifications for more than 500 posts of Diploma Trainee this year.
NTPC DT Recruitment 2023: Eligibility Criteria
The candidates must possess a diploma in the relevant branch of Engineering with a minimum of 70% marks to apply for the post of diploma trainee in NTPC.
Also, the maximum age limit for the post will be 27 years, although age relaxations will be applicable for various category students according to the government norms.

The selection process for the post of diploma trainee in NTPC will be based on 2 stages:
- Stage 1: Non-Technical
- Stage 2: Technical

The second stage will have 120 questions of 1 mark each which will be attempted in 2 hours.
